Financial Requirements: Aid and Attendance is a benefit provided through the VA Pension program which is a need-based program. Therefore, the Applicant must have previously met the family income and net worth limits set by congress for VA Pension benefits. . These criteria consider the applicant’s income, assets, and medical expenses. How to apply for VA Aid and Attendance benefits

Applying for VA Pension Aid and Attendance benefits can be a complex process, but the VA provides resources to assist applicants through the process. Here are the general steps to apply: 

  1. (all of the military records will already be in the file. They must qualify for VA pension before they can apply for aid and attendance. Complete Application Forms: The correct form to apply for VA Pension Aid and Attendance benefits if VA Form 21- 2680. You will need to complete Sections I through V of VA Form 21-2680. Your treating medical provider or residential care facility will need to complete sections VI through VIII. appropriate application forms for Aid and Attendance benefits. The VA Form can be obtained from the VA website or by contacting your local VA office.
  1. Doctor’s Appointment: As I mentioned, your doctor must complete sections VI through VIII of VA Form 21-2680. Therefore, once you have completed your part you will need to call your doctor and schedule an appointment. Your doctor must perform a physical evaluation.
  2. Submit Application: Once the application form is completed by you and your doctor, submit it to the VA along with any supporting documentation. 4. Await Decision: The VA will review your application and determine your eligibility for these benefits. This process may take some time, so it’s important to be patient.
