At Chad Barr Law, supporting veterans is more than part of our practice—it’s part of who we are. That’s why we’re proud to be actively involved in the Central Florida Veterans Community Coalition (CFVCC), a growing network of individuals and organizations working together to improve the lives of veterans and their families.
While the CFVCC is not a single organization, it represents a unified effort with one powerful mission:
Mission: To engage and connect any Veteran and their families in Central Florida through a community coalition that addresses resources, services, and barriers to access care—and end Veteran suicide in the community.
Vision: To End Veteran Suicide in the Central Florida Community.
Chad Barr Law is honored to contribute to this mission by offering legal support, community engagement, and ongoing advocacy for the men and women who’ve served.
Legal Help When Veterans Need It Most
Many veterans leave service with physical injuries, invisible wounds, and a long, confusing road ahead to get the VA benefits they’ve earned. At Chad Barr Law, our Veterans Disability team focuses on helping veterans appeal denied or underrated VA claims. We know how frustrating and disheartening the VA system can be—and we’re here to fight for our clients every step of the way.
Our VA-accredited attorneys, including Jordan Kuveke-Guyton, bring nationwide representation and years of experience to every case. Whether it’s a denied claim, a low disability rating, or a complicated appeal, we take care of the legal battle so veterans can focus on healing.
Partnering With the Central Florida Veterans Community Coalition
Our commitment to veterans extends far beyond the courtroom. As part of the Central Florida Veterans Community Coalition, we actively support initiatives that connect veterans with the care and resources they need. The CFVCC strives to remove barriers to care, promote collaboration, and most importantly, prevent veteran suicide.
Through this coalition, Chad Barr Law contributes time, knowledge, and boots-on-the-ground support. U.S. Navy veteran and team member Bridget Lake plays a vital role in these efforts. She works closely with organizations like:
- Seminole State’s United Assistance for Veterans (UAV)
- The University of Central Florida’s Military and Veteran Success Center
- Women Veterans of Central Florida
- The Women Veterans Association at UCF
From veteran panels and resource fairs to mental health initiatives and legislative advocacy, Bridget and the Chad Barr Law team are showing up and speaking out for veterans across Central Florida.
Education That Empowers: Conceal Carry & Mental Health Event
One standout example of CFVCC’s impact is the Conceal Carry & Mental Health Education event—a timely and important workshop aimed at addressing the intersection of firearm rights and mental wellness in the veteran community.
At this event, Central Florida veterans had the opportunity to hear from:
- Firearm expert John Helms
- Conceal carry and self-defense attorneys
- Community mental health and veteran support agencies
Together, they tackled complex and critical issues, including:
- Florida’s firearm laws and updates to state policy
- The rights and responsibilities of concealed carry permit holders
- Mental health considerations for veterans who own or carry firearms
- Legal consequences and safety planning when mental health intersects with firearm ownership
Chad Barr Law proudly supports and promotes educational initiatives like this one because they empower veterans with knowledge—and help build a safer, stronger, and more connected community.
Honoring Veterans Through Recognition and Storytelling
Chad Barr Law also runs a “Veteran of the Month” spotlight—featuring inspirational service members making a difference in their communities. Recent honorees have included:
- Alexandria Marcellus – U.S. Army Veteran and founder of the Women Veterans Association at UCF.
- Kevin Laczko – Air Force Captain and leader of Heroes Strong Inc., which supports veteran and first responder mental health.
These stories remind us that while service doesn’t always end when the uniform comes off, neither should the support.
Giving Back Through Events and Advocacy
Each year, Chad Barr Law sponsors and participates in a number of veteran-focused events, including:
- Volusia Valor Days – Connecting veterans with benefits and health resources.
- The Veterans Expo in Avon Park – Providing on-site services and raising funds for Project Vet Relief.
- The Protecting Vets Foundation Golf Scramble – Raising money for the Camaraderie Foundation, which helps veterans heal from invisible wounds.
These events offer more than services—they build camaraderie, create awareness, and foster connection among veterans who may otherwise feel isolated.
One Goal: End Veteran Suicide
Veteran suicide is a national crisis—but in Central Florida, the CFVCC is taking bold, community-driven steps to change that. And we’re proud to stand with them.
By connecting legal services to wellness resources, financial aid, healthcare access, and peer support, we’re helping to build a safety net where none existed before. Because no veteran should struggle alone—and no family should suffer the silence of an unseen wound.
