Is it Time to Check Your Alignment?
Is it time for a Tire Alignment?
Most mechanics will tell you to have your tires’ alignment checked every 2-3 years. But there are times when you need to have it done as soon as possible.
If you’re experiencing any of the following, then run to your preferred mechanic and have your alignment checked.
Uneven tire wear – If you notice your front tires are showing different wear than the rear tires, it might be time for an alignment.
Slight pulling – If you notice your car drifting to one side, or that it drifts when you release the steering wheel, it’s time for an alignment.
Sharp pulling – Assuming your tires are properly inflated, a sharp pull to one side is almost a guarantee you need a tire alignment
Vibrating steering wheel – If your wheel jiggles or vibrates, then your tires may be misaligned or unbalanced.
Crooked steering wheel – When you are driving straight but your steering wheel is at an angle, you’re likely in need of an alignment.
There are times when you might experience one or more of these symptoms when your tires are aligned, but then, it’s likely due to another issue that a mechanic will need to address. Misaligned or unbalanced tires can lead to car accidents when drivers aren’t being vigilant.
A tire alignment usually takes about an hour if there isn’t too much wear to the parts that help you steer. If you’ve been driving for too long without an alignment, you may also need to replace your tires.
That’s why you should have your alignment checked regularly and adjusted when recommended. Remember, safe cars save lives. Keeping on top of your vehicle’s regular maintenance schedule can increase its life and yours.
