Sharing the Road with Semi-Trucks. Don’t Do This.
There are no avoiding semi-trucks on our roads. They are the primary mean by which we transport food, products, and almost anything else
Since we’ll continue sharing the lanes with these large trucks, it’s important to know how to share the road. The first rule, keep your distance.
Whether you’re in front, or behind a semi, make sure you have plenty of space between them and you. Staying well ahead or behind when you’re following them will give you the time to react if something goes wrong.
The second rule is never to drive between two semi-trucks. Even an empty truck masses over 10,000lbs. A fully loaded one can weigh more than 80,000lbs. In comparison, a Chevrolet Suburban only weighs around 6,000lbs.
If the truck in front of you needs to stop quickly for any reason, and the one behind you is unable to slow as quickly, your much smaller vehicle is unlikely to survive unscathed. So please, move out from between them if you ever find yourself in this situation.
