Squealing Belts? – Safe Cars Save Lives
Have you ever heard a squealing, squeaking, or screaming sound coming from your car’s engine? It’s likely an old belt in need of replacement or, if recently replaced, one that needs to be tightened.
As your car runs the belts are in constant motion which leads them to age, fray, and become worn. They need to be checked every 3000 miles, or every three months. Usually, this can be done while you’re getting your oil changed.
If there are any signs of wear, or if you know your belts are older then it’s time to have them replaced. Typically your V-Belt needs replacement every 30,000 miles and your Serpentine and Timing Belts should be changed every 50,000 miles.
Safe cars save lives, so it’s important to properly maintain your vehicle. You can find the ideal maintenance schedule for your car in the User Manual, so ensure you refer to it regularly.
